Around Caradon Cottage
Caradon Cottage is located just outside the village of Crows Nest (with its excellent pub). With very little ambient light at night and bordering on a dark sky area, star gazing is a must. You can see the 'Light Over Liskeard' in the distance and explore some of the real and fictional places from this famous Louis de Bernieres book.
There is another pub, tearooms and cafe all within walking distance - plus many more a short drive away. Situated close to the Devon border, the cottage is easily accessible from the A30 to the north (30 minutes) or A38 to the south (20 minutes) and only 15 minutes from Liskeard with a National Express coach stop and the mainline railway station with fast trains to London and onwards down to Penzance. Getting around is easy by car or bike and a regular bus route (day/early evening) also runs past the bottom of the driveway. There is ample parking onsite and a secure garage for bikes, kayaks, etc if required.

A village shop in nearby Pensilva is open early to late, has a cash machine outside and you can easily top up your main shop with a 30 minute walk over the moor/3 minute drive. There is also a local veg growing project with a stall and you'll see various households selling eggs as well. A good selection of independent shops, supermarkets, post office, banks etc are all in Liskeard.

This area is famous for the old tin, copper and other metal mine workings. Caradon Cottage is right beside the World Heritage Site and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With direct access to Bodmin moor your holiday cottage is also perfectly located to explore the beaches on both the South and North coasts. With all the pleasures of hiking, wild swimming, surfing, kayaking, mountain biking, pony and llama trekking, fishing and more, you won't be short of activities to choose from.
Many pretty villages and towns are within a 30 minute drive for a chance purchase or just browse amongst the streets, in art galleries, independent shops or antique centres. Slightly further afield there are the magnificent gardens of Cornwall such as Trebah, the Lost Gardens of Heligan as well as RHS Rosemoor in Devon. Many National Trust properties and other private stately homes are nearby with other great attractions such as the Minack Theatre, Geevor Tin Mine and The Kerdroya Project.

We look forward to welcoming you and hope you will enjoy the area as much as we do.
